Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary

1 Kings 8:65 So Solomon observed the feast at that time, and all Israel with him, a great assembly from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of Egypt, before the LORD our God, for seven days and seven more days, even fourteen days.
1 Kings 9:1 Now it came about when Solomon had finished building the house of the LORD, and the king's house, and all that Solomon desired to do, (NASB ©1995)

Blessed David Eighth Glad Goodness Heart Israel Joyful Servant Shown Tents

On the eighth day he sent the people away: and they blessed the king, and went unto their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that the LORD had done for David his servant, and for Israel his people.

the eighth day In the parallel passage of Chronicles this termed `the three and twentieth day of the seventh month;' that is, the {ninth} day of the dedication; which Jarchi reconcile by supposing that Solomon gave them leave to return on the {eighth} day, and many of them did return, and that he dismissed the remainder on the {ninth}, or twenty-third of the seventh month.
