New International Version
The king stood by his pillar and renewed the covenant in the presence of the LORD—to follow the LORD and keep his commands, statutes and decrees with all his heart and all his soul, and to obey the words of the covenant written in this book.

(31) In his place.--'Al 'omdo, "on his stand;" 2Chronicles 23:13 (Authorised Version, "at his pillar"). Kings has 'al h?'amm-d, which appears to be synonymous; "on the dais."

Verse 31. - The king stood in his place; i.e. not simply]in his order, but upon his royal pedestal, or platform; possibly following a mere suggestion, originating with the word used in the parallel, "by his pillar" (so Revised Version).
