10:7 I am the door of the sheep. Joh 10:1-5 speak of shepherds in general. These shepherds enter into the fold and go out by the same door as the sheep. Christ is that door; the door of the sheep, the one door for all, both sheep and shepherds. There is no other way in, for there is no other name, under heaven, given among men, whereby we must be saved (Ac 4:12).

The shepherd work of our Lord has three aspects:

(1) As the "Good" Shepherd He gives His life for the sheep Jn 10:11 and is, therefore, "the door" by which "if any man enter in he shall be saved." Jn 10:9. This answers to Ps 22.

(2) He is the "Great" Shepherd, "brought again from the dead" Heb 13:20 to care for and make perfect the sheep. This answers to Ps 23.

(3) He is the "Chief" Shepherd, who is coming in glory to give crowns of reward to the faithful shepherds 1Pet 5:4. This answers to Ps 24.

10:6-9 Many who hear the word of Christ, do not understand it, because they will not. But we shall find one scripture expounding another, and the blessed Spirit making known the blessed Jesus. Christ is the Door. And what greater security has the church of God than that the Lord Jesus is between it and all its enemies? He is a door open for passage and communication. Here are plain directions how to come into the fold; we must come in by Jesus Christ as the Door. By faith in him as the great Mediator between God and man. Also, we have precious promises to those that observe this direction. Christ has all that care of his church, and every believer, which a good shepherd has of his flock; and he expects the church, and every believer, to wait on him, and to keep in his pasture.
